Aichenberg Premium Grüner Veltliner: The Hills are Alive…

When thinking of one of My Favorite Things in wine, I turn to the lovely rolling hills of Austria, where sometimes, Brown Paper Packages bring the most surprising flavors in a simple bottle of white wine. Yes, in the land of The Sound of Music and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, great wines do thrive!

The most widely planted wine grape in Austria is Grüner Veltliner. This pale skinned white wine grape grows most successfully in the cooler climates high in the Alps, amongst the Edelweiss. The grape brings so much to the table for all white wine lovers, as it has the round mouthfeel of Chardonnay, yet finishes up with the crisp citrus fruits reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, all topped off with a hint of white pepper. This makes for an all-around great food wine to pair with difficult dishes (artichokes, asparagus), yet also a unique stand-alone beverage wine.

We here at Kenilworth Wine & Spirits proudly feature the Premium Grüner Veltliner from producer Aichenberg in the Niederösterreich region of Austria. It’s a staff favorite, available chilled and under $15!! That is definitely something good!

And here’s a tip to entertain your friends: The grape is GRUner VElltlinr, in the wine business, just for fun, we call it “GROOVY”.

So, don’t hesitate to bring a bottle of “Groovy” to your next gathering, and Climb Every Mountain, Ford Every Stream, Follow Every Rainbow, Till You Find Your Dream!

For now, So Long, Farewell.
